Lymph glands, or lymph nodes, are organs of the lymphatic and immune system that house large quantities of immune cells, called lymphocytes. All lymph glands are connected through the lymphatic system through lymphatic vessels, thus forming the lymphatic system. They play a key role in immunity and filter blood for foreign cells, including cancer cells. Lymph nodes are oval or kidney-shaped.
